What does PITP mean in basketball?

Points scored on shots taken inside the lane. It is the quickest read on how a team plays: a high number means the offense is organised from the inside out.

Forty-four of a team’s 82 points coming from the paint says they live at the rim, and that the defense needs to shrink the floor.
What it leaves out
Free throws do not count here even when the foul happened at the rim, so a team that attacks to draw contact is undersold by this column.
