POSS
What does POSS mean in basketball?
回合数Possessions
One possession runs from gaining the ball to losing it. Grabbing an offensive rebound continues the same possession, which is why the estimate subtracts OREB. No sheet prints this column; it is computed.

How it is worked out
FGA − OREB + TOV + 0.44 × FTA
Worked through
Sixty-eight attempts, eleven offensive boards, thirteen turnovers and twenty free throws: 68 − 11 + 13 + 8.8 = 78.8 possessions.
What it leaves out
It is an estimate, not a count, and the 0.44 drifts in competitions with different free-throw rules. Both teams end a game within a possession or two of each other.

One term down, the whole sheet to go
The numbers on a sheet lean on each other. How many free throws appear depends on the team foul count; how many rebounds exist depends on how both teams shot. Reading a whole game means reading them together.
