What does FG mean in basketball?

Every shot taken from the floor, twos and threes together; free throws never count. Sheets print it as makes-attempts — the first number is FGM, the second FGA.

8-15 means eight of fifteen shots from the floor went in. If two of them were threes, those two also count inside 3PM-3PA.
What it leaves out
FG prices a layup and a three the same. A player who only shoots threes and one who only shoots layups cannot be compared on this column alone.
