The share of shots from the floor that went in — the most quoted number on the sheet and the most misleading.

How it is worked out
FGM ÷ FGA
Worked through
8 ÷ 15 = 53.3%. The same 53.3% from the rim and from behind the arc are worth very different amounts.
Rough scale
A team in competitive senior basketball sits around 45%. That is the FIBA and EuroLeague line; the NBA runs a little higher.
What it leaves out
It throws away the extra point a three is worth. Both eFG% and TS% get closer to the truth.
